With the recent Government announcements, we are increasingly optimistic that the 75th Anniversary Fly In will go ahead. The Shuttleworth Collection are being extremely supportive.
As you will appreciate the last 12 months has been devastating for the leisure industry and the Collection are no exception. Accordingly, we will be asking each pilot to make a voluntary £10 payment on the day into an honesty box (£10 per aircraft but other contributions gratefully received).
Currently, Old Warden Park and Gardens are open to the public but the hangars are closed. For visitors arriving by road the entry fee is £15 per adult, children are free as are SVAS members. This payment regime will be in place for 22 May 2021. Current thinking is that parking will be in the 5x5m boxes, as used for Drive In airshows, but public will be able to walk about. They will be expected to comply with whatever social distancing guidelines are in force at the time. It is hoped the hangars will be accessible by May.
Tickets can be booked online at the Shuttleworth.org website although contactless payments are available on the gate. This is not an ‘event’ so look for ‘Shuttleworth Daily Admission’ tickets. Tickets bought in advance can be used multiple times up to 30 days after the date for which it was purchased. This does not apply to tickets purchased on the gate. SVAS members need only show a valid membership ticket and do not have to book in advance.
At the moment, refreshments are available on a walk-through take-away basis. If this changes information will be posted here.
Entry for visitors by road is currently via Old Warden village but it is hoped by May the new access road off the B658 Shefford to Upper Caldecote road will come into use. Updates about this will be posted here and on the Facebook group. There will be no access via the airfield gate.
This will just be a Fly In with no additional ground attractions and there will not be an air display. There will be no airside access for members of the public. Local flying will be permitted.
Fuel will be available from the self-service pumps. It is not known yet if the bowser will be made available.
To book an aeroplane into this event please go the booking-in page on this website. Only Chipmunks are being accepted at the moment although this may change nearer the time. Please do not attempt to book via the Shuttleworth website.
Updates will be posted when we have more information to give.
